Program Objectives
|
By systematic learning and rigorous training,students can master the theories, methods and
techniques of conservation and reuse in city heritage and historic built
environment. They must study Chinese contemporary issues and the latest
achievements of major urban development and heritage protection. The study is
focusing on vernacular settlement with the city's cultural Heritage and
Modern urban renewal in Chinese traditional Southeast region, to carry out
original research with building archeology, fieldwork and urban conservation
practices. Through the study, students can improve the ability of scientific
research, become professionals with theoretical knowledge and practical
ability. They can undertake the tasks of building designs and urban heritage
management, conservation, and have the ability to carry out certain research.

Requirements of Research Ability and Other Aspects
|
Doctor degree applicants should meet the following
requirements:
One academic paper must be published in the best
academic journals or core academic journals in our school, or three academic
papers published in two core academic journals and national academic papers.
One paper of the II core academic journals can be
available related to their dissertations monographs, textbooks, academic
works translated, or National prize or above (including third prize), the
provincial second prize (including prize) Professional range Awards (national
and provincial Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning Design Award,
Creative Award, an international award to the specific circumstances of
re-authorization) instead.
Above academic journals are free supplement,
magazine, album.

Doctors must participate in academic lectures or academic reports at
least 20 times during the period of study.

Doctors must submit the record of academic lectures or academic reports,
and they can get 1 credit after the record is approved by their supervisors.

Mid-term Assessment

Doctoral study focused on whether the master
firm and broad basic theory and systematic in-depth expertise, the ability to
determine whether they have carried out the art direction of research,
specific comments shunted into the doctoral dissertation stage.

The third semester (second year on) completed
interim assessment after enrollment. Before the comprehensive examination,
fill out the "Xiamen University doctoral graduate course Comprehensive
Examination Registration Form"; Examination content and examination
methods must be approved by the Department and college degree assessment
committee. A mid-term assessment is held by the Examination Board convened by
the instructor of the discipline, or related disciplines three or more
(including three) experts.

Thesis Proposal

After passing multidisciplinary examinations
(interim assessment), in the understanding of domestic and international
research on a dynamic basis, students
present an application of opening report to the group supervisor, and fill
out the "Xiamen University Thesis Report audit table", including: ① open question paper
title; ② topics basis; ③ research objectives and content; ④ research program.
And make a PPT to report to the supervisor group.

The opening report must be completed before
the end of fourth semester (second year under).
The student’s opening report is held by the
Examination Board convened by the instructor of the discipline, or related
disciplines three or more (including three) experts.
According to the report's advice, students
will modify research program, propose a complete research plan (including
schedule and expected outcomes, etc.).
Thesis can be entered the writting stage
after opening report is adopted.

Social Practice

During the study period, at least involved in
one instructor’s research project or social survey from school, college or
community institutions and organizations related.

Participation in the time and frequency is
determined by the instructor. After graduate practice, fill in the
information systems graduate social practice information in management
platform; and submit the "Xiamen University Graduate Practice Report
Form" by the practice instructor and mentor signed an opinion, together
with the results of the internship report.

Teaching Practice

assistant, nursing teachers to participate in at least an undergraduate or
graduate courses or teaching practice guidance 30 hours.
